Systems, Boundaries, and Lifestyle Design: Paige’s Framework

If you've ever struggled with client boundaries, project timelines, or creating a web design business that actually supports your dream lifestyle, my recent interview with Paige Brunton is a must-watch.

Paige, a successful web designer turned course creator, built an impressive business in less than a year and has since helped thousands of students launch their own profitable web design businesses. What makes her approach different? She prioritizes lifestyle first, then builds business systems to support it.

The Two-Week Website System

At the heart of Paige's business success is her innovative two-week website system. Instead of letting projects drag on indefinitely (we've all been there!), Paige created a streamlined process where websites are completed in just two weeks.

"I could figure out the exact dates of when I could take on the project because I had a very set timeline," Paige explained. "I was sure that I could deliver on that timeline every single time."

What clients love about this approach is the certainty. While many designers offer vague timelines ("it could take between four to eight weeks, sometimes twelve..."), Paige gives exact start and launch dates. This clarity reduces client anxiety and sets clear expectations from the beginning.

Client Management That Works

One of my favorite insights from our conversation was Paige's approach to revisions. Instead of limiting clients to "two rounds of revisions" (which can cause client stress), she offers unlimited revisions — but within a specific timeframe.

"You get as many revisions as your little heart desires. Doesn't make any difference to me how many you give me. That's fine. But it has to be done within this amount of time," she shared.

This brilliant approach creates a win-win situation: clients feel heard and valued, while projects don't drag on indefinitely.

Leading the Project

Many new web designers make the mistake of letting clients lead the project. Paige made this shift early in her career, realizing that truly serving clients means taking charge of the process.

"The shift which I had to make was going from 'I'm serving my clients well by letting them lead the project' to 'I'm actually serving my clients by me leading the project and by having deadlines,'" Paige said.

This mindset shift is transformative. When you lead the project confidently, clients get what they ultimately want: a great website, delivered on time.

Red Flags to Watch For

Throughout our conversation, Paige shared valuable insights on identifying potential problem clients before they become actual clients:

  • Someone asking about refund policies during the consultation

  • Projects requiring board approval or multiple decision-makers

  • Consultation calls that run significantly over time

  • Clients who miss scheduled calls without apologizing

  • People who try to haggle down your price while expecting the same service

These early warning signs can save you from difficult client relationships down the road.

Lifestyle By Design

What struck me most about my conversation with Paige was her intentionality around lifestyle design. With a master's degree in "the study and organization of play and free time" (how cool is that?), Paige has built a business that supports her values around leisure, travel, and well-being.

Living in Switzerland, she's created a business that allows her to ski when she wants to, take purposeful breaks, and design her work around her life — not the other way around.
